Honorable Members of the Parole Board,
I, Richard Smith, am writing this letter to request you to release my friend and my colleague, Mr. Andrew Brown, from prison.
I have known Andrew from last fifteen years and we have spent a lot of good time together. We did our college together and we have been flat mates since our college days. I have been like his family in California. He is a sensitive, sensible and smart person and has always gone out of his ways to help people around him.
I understand that he ended up hitting and injuring someone on the road but it was just an accident. I also understand that the accident happened under the influence of the alcohol and it should have not happened.
He has always been a very responsible citizen and has never broken any rules. You can glance through his driving track record and he has never been fined for anything. It was on that day that because of some personal stress he had a drink and then drove his car. It was not just the influence of the alcohol but also the emotional turmoil that ended him up in such a situation.
I have been keeping in touch with him. I have been talking to him over phone once a week. He is very sorry for his actions and is deeply regretting the fact that he has hit someone. He takes complete responsibility for his actions.
He has been practicing meditation at the prison to learn to manage his emotions and stay calm. He keeps him busy by reading and writing.
As soon as he is going to be coming out of the prison, he will be joining me in my company. He is a wonderful social circle and all his family members and friends are very supportive. They are going to help him get over these difficult times and reintegrate into the society.
Once he is out of the prison, he is going to be living with me in our apartment. I will personally make sure that he never drinks and drives again, no matter what and I am sure, more than me, he will be very cautious about it.
I have also been told that he has shown good conduct during this stay in the prison which again reflects on the fact that he is a person with a good character.
I pledge to the members of the parole board that I will always be there make sure that he is well settled in his life and always drives responsibly.
Please feel free to get in touch with me at 9898989898 in case of any other information.
Looking forward to hear from you.
Sincerely,
Richard Smith
